Training on Library Management Software Koha and RDA held at ULAB during 12-14 January 2018
A three-day long training program on Library Management Software Koha and RDA successfully completed at University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh(ULAB), Dhanmondi during 12-14 January 2018. The training programme was organized by BALID Institute of Information Management(BIIM) in collaboration with University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB). Kazi Farhad Noman, Deputy Librarian, BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology and AKM Nurul Alam Apu, Deputy Director, Bangladesh Bank (Library) were the resource person in the programme. Forty participants from different Government and private institutes took part in the programme. Ms. Fatema-Tuz.Johra and Mr. Abu Zafor Bhuiyan, Library Officer, ULAB were training associate in the programme.
At the end of the programme, a certificate awarding ceremony held at ULAB Auditorium. Prof. Dr. Munaz Ahmed Noor, Vice Chancellor of the Islamic University of Technology (IUT), Gazipur was the Chief Guest while Prof. Imran Rahman, Adviser to the Board of Trustees, University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) was the Special Guest. Dr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Chairman, Bangladesh Association of Librarians, Information Scientists and Documentalists (BALID) and BIIM and Chairman, Department of Library Management and Information Science, Royal University of Dhaka was the Chair of the ceremony. Dr. Mirza Mohd. Rezaul Islam, Librarian, IUT and Training Coordinator of BALID and Prof. Dr. Milion K Bhattacharjee, Treasurer of ULAB spoke the occasion. |

Training workshop on Communication Skills for 21st century library professionals held on 29 April 2017
A day long training workshop on ‘Communication Skills for 21st century library professionals’ held on 29 April 2017 organized by Bangladesh Association of Librarians, Information Scientists and Documentalists (BALID) in collaboration with Eastern University (EU) Library. The workshop was organized at EU Seminar Room and Computer Lab. The resource persons discussed on various aspects of communication skills, Professional writing, Career Development, Professional Exploration and Networking. Ms Hazera Rahman, Ms Razina Akhter and M. Monirul Islam (Kanok) were the resource persons of the workshop.
A certificate awarding ceremony was held after the workshop. Vice chancellor of Eastern University Professor Dr. Abdur Rab was the chief guest and Pro Vice chancellor Professor Dr. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury was special guest in the certificate awarding ceremony. Dr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Chairman, BALID chaired the session where Dr. Mirza Mohd. Rezaul Islam, Librarian, Islamic University of Technology and Md. Jahangir Alam, Deputy Librarian of EU also spoke. The guests emphasized on arranging this kind of more training workshop to develop the skills of library professionals. গ্রন্থাগারিক পদের নামকরণ গ্রন্থাগার শিক্ষক করার দাবীতে প্রতীকী অনশন - ১১ মার্চ ২০১৭
মহাবিদ্যালয়, মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয় ও মাদ্রাসায় কর্মরত গ্রন্থাগারিক ও সহকারী গ্রন্থাগারিক পদের নামকরণ যথাক্রমে গ্রন্থাগার প্রভাষক ও সহকারী শিক্ষক (গ্রন্থাগার ও তথ্যবিজ্ঞান) করার দাবীতে বাংলাদেশ গ্রন্থাগারিক ও তথ্যায়নবিদ সমিতি (বেলিড) ও বাংলাদেশ সহকারী গ্রন্থাগারিক সমিতির আহবানে সারা দেশের গ্রন্থাগারিক, গ্রন্থাগার ব্যবস্থাপনা ও তথ্যবিজ্ঞান বিভাগের শিক্ষার্থী, শিক্ষক ও পেশাজীবী সংগঠনগুলো সম্মিলিতভাবে ১১ মার্চ ২০১৭ বেলা ১১টা থেকে ২টা পর্যন্ত কেন্দ্রিয় শহীদ মিনার, ঢাকায় প্রতীকী অনশন কর্মসূচি পালন করেছে।
বেলিড চেয়ারম্যান ডঃ মোঃ মোস্তাফিজুর রহমানের সভাপতিত্বে এবং বাংলাদেশ সহকারী গ্রন্থাগারিক সমিতির সদস্য-সচিব এ এফ এম কামরুল হাসানের পরিচালনায় এ প্রতীকী অনশনে বাংলাদেশ গ্রন্থাগারিক ও তথ্যায়নবিদ সমিতি,বাংলাদেশ সহকারী গ্রন্থাগারিক সমিতি, বাংলাদেশ কলেজ গ্রন্থাগার সমিতি, বাংলাদেশ সম্মিলিত গ্রন্থাগার পেশাজীবী জোট, বাংলাদেশ পিটিআই গ্রন্থাগার সমিতি, গ্রন্থাগার শিক্ষক পরিষদ, ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের তথ্যবিজ্ঞান ও গ্রন্থাগার ব্যবস্থাপনা বিভাগ, রাজশাহী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের তথ্যবিজ্ঞান ও গ্রন্থাগার ব্যবস্থাপনা বিভাগ, রয়েল ইউনিভার্সিটি অব ঢাকার গ্রন্থাগার ব্যবস্থাপনা ও তথ্যবিজ্ঞান বিভাগসহ সারা দেশের বিভাগীয় ও জেলা সহকারী গ্রন্থাগারিক সমিতি গুলো অংশগ্রহণ করে। এ কর্মসূচি থেকে মাধ্যমিক ও উচ্চমাধ্যমিক অধিদপ্তর, ঢাকা কর্তৃক জারীকৃত ২৬ ডিসেম্বর ২০১৬ তারিখের পরিপত্র সংশোধন পূর্বক গ্রন্থাগারিক ও সহকারী গ্রন্থাগারিককে শিক্ষক হিসেবে স্বীকৃতি দিয়ে নতুন পরিপত্র জারীর দাবী জানানো হয়। গ্রন্থাগার পেশাজীবীদের এদাবীর প্রতি সমর্থন জানিয়ে বক্তব্য রাখেন ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় অফিসার্স এ্যাসোসিয়েশনের সভাপতি সেয়দ আলী আকবর সহ গ্রন্থাগার পেশাজীবী সংগঠনের নেতৃবৃন্দ। |
