The 19th AGM of BALID and Annual Picnic 2012The 19th AGM of BALID was held at Sonargaon Folk Arts & Crafts Museum on 24 February 2012. After the AGM, a 17 members new Executive Committee was formed through a election. Dr. Mirza Mohd Rezaul Islam, Faradul Islam Farid and Md. Humayun Kabir were elected as Chairman, Secretary General and Finance Ssecretary respectively (See full committee list). The Annual Picnic of BALID was held at the same place on the same day where BALID members took part in various fun events. There was also a raffle draw at the end of picnic events. |
Day-long Seminar on BALID Silver Jubilee Celebration
On the occasion of 25th Anniversary of BALID, a daylong seminar was held at RC Majumder Auditorium of Dhaka University on 9 December 2011.
Architect Yafes Osman, MP, State Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology was the Chief Guest and Md Eunusur Rahman, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Public Administration was Special Guest in the seminar.
Prof. AAMS Arefin Siddique, VC, Dhaka University presided over the seminar while Kazi Mostak Gausul Hoq, Assistant Professor of Dhaka University presented the key-note paper. BALID Chairman M Hossam Haider Chowdhury delivered the welcome address. The inaugural session of the seminar was moderated by Prof. Dr. S.M Mannan and Ms. Dilara Begum.
Earlier, two technical sessions were chaired by M Shamsul Islam Khan and Dr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman. The sessions were conducted by Dr. Md. Nazim Uddin.

BALID Silver Jubilee CelebrationBangladesh Association of Librarians, Information Scientists and Documentalists (BALID) has celebrated its 25th Anniversary through a three-month long programmes beginning on 17 September 2011. The Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the programme as chief guest at Aparajeyo Bangla that was followed by a rally towards Jatiya Press Club. The programme was jointly organized by the Departments of Information Science and Library Management, University of Dhaka and Rajshahi University, and the Library Association of Bangladesh (LAB). Later a press conference was held at Jatiya Press Club where Professor Dr. S.M Mannan read out 10 demands of BALID. About 500 library professionals, teachers and students along with journalists took part in the event. |
