Appeal for Donation to BALID

Bangladesh Association of Librarians, Information Scientists and Documentalists (BALID), is a government registered nonprofit, professional and membership association. BALID has been pioneered by a number of bright young library professionals with a view to working towards professional development and empowerment. As a collective voice and power of qualified librarians BALID officially started on January 23 1986. Since then the Association has been organizing events like discussions, lectures, seminars and training programs to help enhance expertise on dynamic issues, meet diverse professional needs and excel in advance technologies. BALID has been also in the continuous process of advocacy, consultancy, policy making, bargaining and negotiating with public and private sector associates, national, regional and international agencies for dynamic working conditions and environment.

We all know that in this age of information explosion all organizations depend on affordable, accessible, accurate and up-to-date information and services delivered in a timely manner to facilitate research and decision making. Dealing with this demanding situation would be completely difficult without trained and skilled professionals in library and information sector.

With a view to encounter this challenge and to carry out the mission of professional development and excellence in education and services; and finally to cater to the continuous need of training for the professionals BALID has constituted BALID Institute of Information Management (BIIM) in September 2012. Meanwhile BIIM has successfully accomplished a good number of training programs on library based information technology which are highly appreciated and still in demand. Being inspired from this, BALID has started activities for advance programs with standard curriculum which will drive the professional development countrywide.

However, BALID has the potentialities to undertake a lot of supportive schemes but inadequate financial capability of the Association does affect keeping up with many of its anticipated programs and activities.

Moreover, there is an effort to purchase a piece of land and construction of a building for BALID to have a permanent office and structure for its institute, the BIIM.

Professional endeavors and entrepreneurship projected by BALID and BIIM require our social commitment with responsibilities of fostering development programs as well as supports by generous contributions.

Under the circumstances we would like to make an appeal to you all to provide generous and voluntary donation and make use of your good offices to uphold the mission and vision of BALID.

The issue of appeal for donation is also discussed, ratified in the last Annual General Meeting held on 17 March 2014 and is decided to expedite the process of appeal to the BALID members, the practitioners and the benevolent individuals and organizations.

All donations/contributions will be gratefully received and duly honored. Your valuable contributions and support will help BALID /BIIM to continue with planned programs and further additions.

Payments for contribution/donation may either be made to the BALID Account No 02333001221 of Bank Asia or by Account Payee Check/Pay order to BALID. Alternatively donations may be made by bKash payment to 01732966482. Please send either SMS to 01732966482 or email to balidbd@gmail.com mentioning the date, amount and transaction Id.
